my friend rex owns the front page of the NY Magazine website today with his article “the microfame game“:
“There’s a new class of celebrity powered by the Internet. The stakes are smaller, but the rewards are within anyone’s reach. These are the rules.”
shiver.
it makes sense really. in the wake of the emily goulds and the julia allisons (both of which are referenced in the article), there is no denying that just about anyone with a blog and enough ambition can make themselves famous - well at least internet famous.
in order to be micro-famous, rex says you should:
1. Self-publish
2. Stylize
3. Overshare
4. Respond
5. Ally
6. Diversify
7. Create Controversy
8. Persist
me? i just hang out with rex.

Great article. Although we all say we started blogging for our friends and family, yet deep down I’m sure we all hope that all our efforts and time make some impact or at least gain us our 15 minutes of fame!
Love your blog - keep up the fab work.
