Besides drinking, watching The Chaser’s War on Everything was my very favorite pastime while I lived in Perth. The gist: 5 Aussie blokes pull pranks and poke fun at pop culture, politics, society, and of course, America*. Think Jackass vs. Punk’d vs. The Daily Show, but without the annoyingness of Kutcher and Knoxville.

*I suspect this material will diminish. GWB is the cornerstone of their American material; like Palin was to SNL I suppose.

Anyway, so I just got word that The Chasers are headed to our fair shores and will air on G4 starting next Wednesday.

This will change your life.

My favorites:

• The Trojan Horse – The chasers successful gain access to park a giant trojan horse in a number of outlandish places. They’re finally denied entry by the Turkish Consulate.
• APEC Security – Disguised as a Canadian motorcade, they pass through a number of security checkpoints and arrive outside Bush’s hotel – dressed of course as Osama Bin Laden.
• And my very favorite, A Proposition for Divorce –

Friday nights were never the same after “Are You Afraid of the Dark” joined the SNICK lineup back in ‘92. Oh how I loved that clan of misfit teenagers and their tales featuring terrifying characters like a cigar smoking clown, a quiet librarian and Melissa Joan Hart. Oh, and who could forget Gilbert Gottfried’s stellar performance as the radio DJ whose songs took listeners beyond the grave.

I wish I was kidding.

Anyway, you can about imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon a couple of episodes of a spoof series “Are You Afraid of the Dark: The Later Years.” It’s a hilarious walk down memory lane. Enjoy.
